Active Regular Member

Active Regular Members must be in public practice and must meet one of the following requirements.

  1. Enrolled to practice before the IRS.  
  2. Certified Public Accountant. 
  3. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation in either Accountancy or Tax Preparation or Tax Advising.
  4. Have an Associate, Baccalaureate or higher degree with a minimum of 24 semester hours in Accounting. 
  5. Have 3 years or more experience of public accounting and/or taxation as my primary source of earned income, within the past 5 years.  Within 5 years of joining, you must meet at least one (1) of the criteria of active membership as outlined above in 1-4.

Those granted Active membership with criteria in 4 or 5 must complete the continuing professional education requirements of the Accreditation Council of Accountancy for accreditation in accounting or taxation.

Associate Member

If you meet one of the following qualifications, you are eligible for Associate Membership.  Associate members are not eligible to vote or hold office, nor do they have to meet continuing professional education requirements.

  1. Employee of an accounting firm and /or taxation practitioner firm.
  2. An educator.
  3. Accountants or bookkeepers in governmental services.
  4. Accountants or bookkeepers employed by private organizations.
  5. Officers and employee accountants of banks and other financial institutions.
  6. Offer accounting, tax or financial and estate planning services to the public, but do not otherwise qualify for membership as an “Active Regular” Member.

Student Associate Member

An Associate Student membership is available to those pursuing a course in accounting, business administration, or related subjects in a college, university or business school.

Educator Member

An Educator membership is available to those that are not engaged in public practice and primary source of income must be from teaching courses in accounting, business administration or related courses at an accredited college, university or business school.

Retired Member

Member status shall be granted to those Members of the Association who have attained the age of 55 or over/or become disabled, been Members of the Association for four (4) continuous years and retired from the practice of accountancy.
